Corrosion resistance
The corrosion resistance is better than 304 stainless steel, and it has good corrosion resistance in the production process of pulp and paper. Moreover, 316 stainless steel is resistant to corrosion from the ocean and aggressive industrial atmosphere.
Heat resistance
316 stainless steel (06Cr17Ni12Mo2) has good oxidation resistance during intermittent use below 871 ° C (1600 ° C) and continuous use above 927 ° C (1700 ° C). It is best not to continuously use 316 stainless steel within the range of 427 ° C-857 ° C (800-1575), but when continuously using 316 stainless steel outside this temperature range, it has good heat resistance. The resistance to carbide precipitation of 316L stainless steel is better than that of 316 stainless steel, which can be used within the above temperature range
welding
316 stainless steel has good welding performance. All standard welding methods can be used for welding. 316Cb, 3161, or 309C6 stainless steel filler rods or welding rods can be used for welding according to the purpose. To achieve the best corrosion resistance, the welding section of 316 stainless steel needs to undergo post weld annealing treatment. If 316L stainless steel is used, there is no need for post weld annealing treatment
heat treatment
Anneal within the temperature range of 850-1050 ° C, then rapidly anneal and then cool down. 316 stainless steel cannot be hardened through heat treatment
